Client Communication and Voice AI Consent

(Recommended language to include inside the retainer packet. Have your own lawyer review and adapt before using.) 📄

Section 1. Why We Are Asking

[Law Firm Name] ("the Firm," "we," "us") wants to keep you up to date on your case. To do that, we use text messages, email, and an AI voice helper that can call you on our behalf. This document explains how we will reach you, and asks for your written consent.

You do not have to say yes to be our client. You may take back any consent at any time. Standard message, data, and call rates may apply.

I, the undersigned client, agree to receive text messages from the Firm about my case at the phone number I have given. These texts may include case updates, reminders, questions, requests for documents, and replies from the legal team or the Firm's AI helper.

I understand that:

  1. I may receive up to [X] texts per month.
  2. I can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text.
  3. I can reply HELP for help.
  4. Message and data rates may apply.
  5. My consent is not required to hire the Firm.

I agree that the Firm may use an automated AI voice helper to call me at the phone number I have given. The AI voice helper may:

  1. Share case updates.
  2. Ask me questions.
  3. Leave voicemails.
  4. Connect me to a real person on the legal team if I ask or if I need one.

I understand that:

  1. Calls may be recorded by the Firm so we have a record of what was said.
  2. The AI will say it is calling on behalf of [Law Firm Name].
  3. I may ask to speak with a real person at any time.
  4. Standard call rates may apply.
  5. My consent is not required to hire the Firm.
  6. I may take back this consent at any time by calling [phone] or emailing [support@yourfirm.com].

Sometimes the Firm needs to reach me about something time-sensitive (such as a court date, a deadline, a settlement question, or a missing document) and is not able to. In those cases, I give the Firm permission to use the AI voice helper to call the emergency contacts I have listed below.

When the AI voice helper calls one of my emergency contacts, it will:

  1. Say it is calling on behalf of [Law Firm Name].
  2. Ask the contact to have me call the Firm back as soon as I can.
  3. Not share private details about my case. 🔒

I understand that:

  1. I can add, change, or remove an emergency contact at any time by writing to the Firm.
  2. I may take back this consent at any time.
  3. My consent is not required to hire the Firm.
